Political Statements Aren't Always Popular

Last post was about my Canadian Statement about the current US "mess". And for the most part, when it was posted on social media, the reactions were positive.

But I learned that not everyone in the US wants people to share these messages. The wonderful woman who started the Artistic Coalition project sent a heartbreaking email to the participating artists late last week. Because she works indirectly for Department of Defence, now the Department of War, she had to delete all social media accounts that presented a political stance. She must be "apolitical" on social media platforms. So all the time and effort she has spent getting this movement going has come to an abrupt halt.

Hopefully, someone without a government job can resume the journey for this endeavour.

The good news is that there is another platform, "Brave Art Speaks" that is also sharing messages. Here is a link to their Instagram page   https://www.instagram.com/braveartspeaks/

My mat sits proudly on that page, with other pieces that are definitely sending a strong message.

Please go and take a look.
